Lot 103: Triumph Stag MKII

When the Stag was launched in 1971 it ticked all of the desirability boxes. It was styled by Michellotti, it was a convertible, which could seat four adults and it had a V8 engine. This was a world-beater, yes? The reasons for it not being a world-beater are well documented but the reasons for it to be a world-beater remained unchanged. 36 years later and the Stag is getting the recognition it deserves, with fist rate examples making over �20,000. All the glitches have been ironed out, modern oils and corrosion inhibitors ensure that engines last and the Stag is now recognised for what it really is, a beautifully balanced 2 + 2 open GT car with classic Michelotti lines.This 1976 example is equipped with the desirable manual transmission with overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears. It has recently benefited from a new radiator, new clutch, front discs, clutch slave cylinder, electronic ignition and more. It is said to drive well and is complete with both soft and hard tops.Finished in BRG with black hood and black interior, with leather facings on the front seats, the car is taxed through to the end of November and MoT'd through to June 2008. A very usable Stag in a great colour with the right gearbox. The Stag still offers amazing value for money.
