Lot 132: Jaguar XJRS 5.3

It is hard to believe that over 32 years have passed since the launch of the XJS and 12 years since the model was consigned to the history books. Despite a 20 year production run and continuous development, the model never got the acclaim it really deserved, because without the XJS, there would be no Jaguar Cars.Launched in 1975 the XJS was originally seen as a replacement for the E-Type, which it never was. The E-Type was a pure Sports Car in concept, while the XJS was a Grand Touring Car. While the cars may have shared the same mechanical underpinnings, the chassis dynamics were completely different.Jaguar built a number of limited edition XJS models, including the Le Mans, XJR 5.3, XJR 6.0 and the final XJS Celebration. Offered here is a nice example of the 5.3 XJRS, which has the Jaguar Sport seats, instruments, steering wheel and Speedline alloy road wheels. The car has been owned by a father and son in recent times but dad is now retiring to the Isle of Wight and has no use for the car. It is therefor being sold.Finished in Serbring Red with cream leather, piped red, the car is in quite good order and is said to drive very well. It is offered complete with the original Jaguar Sport XJR leather wallet, service booklet, owners manual and various papers.
