Lot 265: 1971 Jensen Interceptor Series II restoration project

Launched at the 1966 London Motor Show, the Jensen Interceptor proved a star attraction. Beneath its elegant Vignale designed coachwork the chassis featured independent front suspension with a live rear axle and disc brakes all round. Power came from a 6,276cc Chrysler V8, producing 325bhp at 4,600rpm and an impressive 4251b.ft. at 2,800rpm, sufficient for a top speed of 133mph and 0-60mph in just 7.4 seconds. Inside, Connolly leather and Wilton carpets ensured luxury while the dashboard was comprehensively equipped. In October 1968, the Interceptor was announced in Mk. II form with larger fuel tank, reclining seats, restyled facia and optional air conditioning and it is this interesting example that is here today. Requiring restoration, PEX 214J is a driving car although has no road tax or MoT. These upgraded Interceptors are, in good condition, one of the most elegant, powerful and individual grand tourers of the last century and with some dedication, this Series II could once again turn heads in town or on faster roads. Offered here at no reserve, Jensens have big reliable engines and this would make for a great restoration project.
