Lot 109: Mercedes-Benz 500SL
Classic - Collectors and Historic Motor Cars, Barons (18th March 2008)
First seen in 1989, the 129 SL had a huge act to follow. The 107 SL had been around for 18 years, building a huge following around the world. The 129 had to convince these enthusiasts that it was a worthy successor. It is now 18 years since the launch of the new model and it has, itself, been replaced after a very successful period in production, where it soon gained its own reputation.
