Lot 409: Lotus Esprit Series 1
An important Auction of Lotus Motor Cars, Coys (30th October 2004)
The S1 was produced from 1975 to 1978 and unlike any previous Lotuses, Esprit had an in-house-built engine. This 16 valves 2.0-litre unit was one of the first 4-valve engines applied to road cars. Only 714 made it off the production line. Many of these were for overseas which makes this car very rare indeed
