Lot 116: Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II

The Silver Shadow had been around for 11 years without any major changes but in 1976, Rolls-Royce introduced the Silver Shadow II. The new car sported impact bumpers to satisfy American legislation, split level air conditioning, self levelling suspension and a host of other changes, the most significant of which was the change to rack and pinion steering.This superb example of the Shadow II is finished in Masons black and has contrasting tan hide interior, which is one of the most flattering colour schemes for the model. It is said to have covered a, believed to be genuine, 72,600 miles in 30 years, which is supported with an extensive history file.The car has benefited from a �3,000 brake overhaul in 2004 in addition to the fitting of a new steering rack, valve stem oil seals, reconditioned auto box, Nipondenso starter motor, new Avon tyres and a 24,000 mile service. In 2005 the roof and rear quarters were repainted due to crazing of the original paint and new door rubbers were also fitted at the same time.
