Lot 146: Jaguar E-Type S2 Roadster
Classic Collectors & Historic Cars, Barons (11th December 2007)
After 7 years in production and driven by American legislation, the E-Type underwent a major restyle. The headlights were brought forward in the bonnet and were now exposed with chrome surrounds, lights and indicators were enlarged and mounted below the bumpers with, for the USA, side repeaters in the wings. The interior became more luxurious with leather clad centre console, comfy seats, the glove box gained a door and the row of toggle switches in the centre of the dash were replaced by rocker switches. Under the hood, in the USA, the triple SU's gave way to twin Strombergs. This late S2 E-Type roadster was imported from The Hampton's in New York State in 2005 and was the property of a US Lawyer. The car appears to be very sound and once equipped with a new battery, fresh fuel and clean plugs it fired up and drove. It will require registering in the EU and recommissioning before use.A rare opportunity to acquire a sound E-Type roadster, at a sensible price, which one can restore to ones own specification
