Lot 120: Jaguar E-Type S2 FHC
British Heritage + Classic Cars, Barons (11th September 2007)
Despite the passage of some 32 years since its final demise, the E-Type maintains its position at the top of the list of most desirable sports car list. The prettiest of the range was the 2 seater, Fixed Head Coupe, which was the best proportioned and balanced. The 2 + 2 sacrificed styling for practicality but the FHC was a pure, 2-seater sports car, as Malcolm Sayer had intended. This very late Series 2 is said to have benefited from a complete rebuild and restoration in 2003 after the car had suffered an accident. Declared as damaged but repairable the opportunity was used to completely stripped and rebuild the car using new or reconditioned parts. It is now described as being in excellent order and is said to drive extremely well.Finished in one of the most desirable colour combinations of metallic silver with red leather interior, the car has the 4.2 litre, XK engine and 4-speed manual transmission.
