Lot 106: Chevrolet Caprice Classic
Jaguar Heritage + Classic & Collectors Motor Cars, Barons (29th April 2008)
Chevrolet dates back to 1911. In the hands of William C Durant, the business thrived and by 1918 was part of the GM empire. By 1927 Chevrolet outstripped Ford production, being the largest contributor to GM's coffers, by far. During the 50's and 60's Chevrolet was riding high with the, now iconic Bel Air, Corvette and Impala. Offered here is a Chevrolet of the 90's in the way of a 302 cubic inch Caprice Classic, four door sedan. Though 17 years old, the car has covered just 13,400 miles (thirteen thousand, four hundred), which is warranted as being the correct mileage and is supported by MoT certificates. With just two owners, the history is easy to verify. The car was first owned by an engineering company based at Stanstead Airport, who used the car as a VIP carriage with the car rarely leaving the confines of the airport during their 7 years of ownership. The car is offered for sale by the second owner, who acquired the car in 1998. It is finished in metallic maroon with contrasting, grey cord interior. The car has the 5.0 V8 engine, which is mated a 4 speed auto box. It is equipped with power all of the power options and is said to be in good order throughout, apart from some flaking lacquer. An ideal candidate for LPG conversion, which is barely run-in at 13000 miles
