Lot 11: Citroen DS20

From the earliest times, Andr� Citro�n's prowess as an innovative engineer had been evident and the traction avant model, introduced in 1934, was a groundbreaking design and a true milestone car, remaining in production until 1955.� Its successors, the DS and ID Series, were equally revolutionary and featured futuristic styling both internally and externally  a memorable feature being the single-spoke steering wheel.� Throughout the production run, these models benefited from gradual upgrades of specification with the engine being enlarged to 2-litres from 1967.� As with previous Citro�ns, these cars were also assembled at Slough in right-hand-drive form.� So far ahead of their time were they that they were still seen as advanced when ultimately replaced by the transverse-engined CX Series in the mid-1970s.�Dating from 1972, presented here is a DS20 which is a UK right-hand-drive example.� Finished in bronze with black trim, the car is understood to be in very good presentable order, having clearly undergone some refurbishment in the past.� These iconic motor cars have established a firm cult following and are now keenly sought by devotees.�
