Lot 113: Ford Sapphire Cosworth 4 x 4

The marriage of Cosworth power and a Ford product goes back more than four decades but this particular ceremony began in the early eighties, with the initial fruits being avialble in 1986 as an Homologation special for Touring Car Racing. The Sierra Cosworth became the RS500 with more power and various upgrades but the Cosworth performance was also available in a four-wheel-drive, four door saloon.The Sapphire Cosworth not only offered a tubocharged engine, it also offered luxury appointments and the shure footedness of that four-wheel-drive system. The Sapphire was also less outrageously styled.This example has been stored as part of a small private collection for some 7 years. In 2004 the car was equipped with a new differential, new injectors and a new turbo, since when it has covered nominal mileage. It has benefited from a major service and has uprated brakes and road wheels.Finished in white with black leather interior, the car is described as being in near show condition, with a highly detailed engine bay, AP Racing barkes, special wheels, is complete with an extensive history file and is equipped with a Tracker system.
