Lot 448: 1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth Saloon

Used only for general duties and rarely exceeding 60mph, this RS Cosworth has been the vendor’s wife’s car for the past 12 years. However, serious rust forced the purchase of a new genuine Ford bodyshell (in primer) complete with boot, bonnet and doors. The ’shell was painted in original Diamond White, and the existing mechanicals and running gear transferred making minor repairs where required and using mainly new fixings. New Chassis Dynamics road springs were fitted together with new bushes and a new battery. The brake calipers were overhauled a short time ago and the car has a Mongoose stainless-steel performance exhaust system and 16" Revolution wheels (purchase price £800) shod with low-profile tyres. A Sony sound system is installed, while for security there is a Piranha immobiliser and Foxguard alarm with interior ‘sound bomb’. The recorded mileage is circa 87,800 and it is expected that a DVLA history will accompany the car at time of sale together with partial service history including a service book stamped from circa 40,000 miles (the original book is lost). Its reconstruction completed in October 2005, the vehicle is offered with old-style logbook, MoT to November 2005 and Swansea V5 registration document.
