Lot 137: Jaguar E-Type S2 FHC

While the purist may swear by the early S1 FHC as the ultimate E-Type, they have probably never driven one. Early "Flat Floor" cars are impossible to drive properly, the original bucket seats will give you permanent back problems, the Kelsey-Hayes brakes will fade like an ageing starlet and the headlights will have difficulty penetrating dusk.Jaguar realised that the E-Type needed refining and in 1967 the S2 was introduced with proper seats, servo assisted brakes, open headlights and new switch gear. This E-Type was still a beautiful Jaguar. The only difference was that you could be comfortable and confident while driving it and confident when stopping it.Offered here is an outstanding example of a Series 2, which has been the subject of a 4 year, nut and bolt restoration and RHD conversion by recognised specialist and Concours winner, John Wilkinson.
