Lot 209: 2004 Tampolli LMP2 675 Le Mans
Brands Hatch, Coys (25th May 2008)
Designed in 2003 and produced by Italian race car manufacturer Tampolli, the LMP2-675 sports-prototype chassis, as its model name suggests, was designed to contest the 675 kilo, LMP2 junior class in both the Le Mans Endurance Series and the American Le Mans Series. Although often powered by a 3.4 litre, Cosworth V8 engine, a variety of other suitable power units has also been successfully used. Chassis 012LMP/675/2003 was campaigned in the LMES championship throughout 2004 by Italian team SCI before being imported to Great Britain where it is eligible for, and would surely be competitive in, the Britcar Championship, while also being eligible for several European series and other championships. Buyers please note that although offered without an engine, a Nicolson McLaren prepared 3.4 Cosworth V8 engine is available by separate treaty. Presented in good condition and strikingly finished in green and yellow, the car is supplied with a spares package comprising a body nosecone, brake components, including discs, shock absorbers, various gearbox components and three sets of wheels and tyres. An interesting and unusual sports-prototype, this potentially very quick and relatively simple to run LMP2 Tampolli could indeed be a very competitive proposition in a variety of race events, or, with a greater choice of engines, a serious contender in sprints and hillclimbs - and as such it is also very competitively priced.
