Lot 025: 1960 AUSTIN-HEALEY 3000 MKI
Motor Car Sale, H&H Sales Limited (13th September 2006)
Finished in red with red leather upholstery, this particular 2+2 example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. Reportedly "imported from Oklahoma, USA in 1989", 'SVS 218' is said to have been "stripped and rebuilt during the early 1990s". As well as being "converted to right-hand drive, repainted from bare metal and rewired", the car is understood to have had an engine rebuild by marque specialist Chatham which incorporated "a number of sensible tuning modifications such as a fast-road camshaft, ported cylinder head, six-branch exhaust manifold, triple SU carburettors and a geared starter motor". Consequently summarised by the seller as a "serious Healey with exhilarating performance yet still very drivable at lower speeds and in traffic", 'SVS 218' has the further advantage of comprehensive weather equipment (hood, sidescreeens and tonneau cover). Believed but not warranted to have covered just 98,000 miles from new, this desirable Big Healey is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until August 2007 and historic class (free) road tax until March 31st 2007.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until September 2007.
