Lot 220: 1992 Maserati Bi-Turbo Spyder E
Fine Motor Cars And The Jaguar Legend, Coys (24th June 2006)
Presented at Modena December 14, 1981 the anniversary date of the founding of Maserati in 1914, the Bi-Turbo was the product of the De Tomaso group design centre. Whilst there were no apparent similarities with the Merak V6, the engine was a new design powered with two turbo-compressors and with three valves per cylinder. Whilst released as a 2 litre in domestic markets for tax purposes, in foreign markets the car was powered by a 2.5 liter version, designated as E for export, the same powerhouse as the 425. In 1983 the range was extended with the Bi-Turbo S which provided another 25bhp and increase in top speed. The example presented on these fabled lawns is supplied with a comprehensive document file from Kent High Performance detailing works and parts supplied between 1998 and 2003, totaling nearly £9,000. The car is finished in blue with a beige interior and is supplied with a full service history. The car is described as presenting in excellent condition and is perfect for the summer months.
