Lot 111: Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit
After 16 years in production the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was replaced with a completely new model in 1981. This new car was bigger, more refined and totally different than the Shadow in appearance but it retained much of the Shadow's mechanical underpinnings, including the trusty 6750cc V8 engine. The Silver Spirit represented a huge investment for Rolls-Royce. The model would form the basis of their range for the next 20 years, so it had to be right, first time. Despite some initial grumbling from the traditionalists, the Silver Spirit soon gained its own following, in the same way that the Shadow had way back in 1965. Offered here is an early example, which is said to have had just two previous owners, covered a mere 64,000, warranted, miles from new and is complete with original service booklet and owner's manuals. Finished in garnet with a black Everflex roof and beige hide interior, the car is described as being in good to very good condition throughout and is equipped with the usual refinements associated with the model. The car is offered complete with service and maintenance invoices totalling £33,000, an MOT through to Oct 2011 and is taxed to the end of March.
