Lot 106: Jaguar S-Type 3.4 Saloon

The S-Type Jaguar came along in 1963, sporting the new independent rear suspension from the E-Type and MKX. Based on the MKII chassis, the S-Type was heavily restyled, especially at the rear but the roof line, chassis rails, front end and interior were all redesigned along MKX lines.The wonderful XK engine still provided the power and the transmission remained a choice between Borg Warner automatic or Jaguar 4 speed manual with overdrive. The big benefit over the MKII was the independent rear suspension, which gave a more compliant ride and better handling.This 1968 example has the 3.4 XK engine mated to the 4-speed manual, plus overdrive, transmission. Though taxed and MoT'd it has seen little use but has recently been serviced, recommissioned, benefited from an expensive reopaint and has been fitted with new carpets.Finished in metallic Bordeaux with maroon interior, the car sits on chrome wire wheels, is on the button and is being sold as an unfinished restoration.
