Lot 210: Jaguar XK150 DHC
Jaguar Heritage and Classic Cars, Barons (1st May 2007)
First seen in 1957, the 150 would be the final incarnation of the XK, because only 4 years later, Jaguar would wow the world, once again, with the all new E-Type. The XK150 not only delivered the look of the XK, it also delivered the performance. The S version was not far behind the E-Type in many areas, despite its heavier body/chassis design and higher drag coefficient. The 150 offered more luxury than the 120 and 140 but it lacked nothing in the way of performance. Offered here is a 1958 XK150 DHC, which was fully restored and converted from lhd to rhd in 1997-1998 by Jaguar specialists 'The Garage' in the Netherlands. The car was brought back to the UK and registered in late 1998 by its British owner and has covered only 1350 miles since. The paintwork is described as being quite superb as is all the new chromework. The car is equipped with all new chrome wires wheels, fitted with new, period style, Avon tyres. The Interior has been completely renewed and the car has a new mohair hood with half tonneau. While the car has been sympathetically restored to original specification, it does have some sensible upgrades, which include Coopercraft front brake callipers, Harvey Bailey anti rollbar, high-flow radiator, alternator conversion and a full stainless steel exhaust system. Finished in red with red hide interior and black mohair hood, the car is equipped with the 3.4 litre XK engine, which is mated to a 4 speed, non overdrive manual gearbox. This is an extremely rare configuration.
