Lot 08: Citroen ID 20

From the earliest times, Andre Citro�n had been an innovative engineer and his 'Traction' model, introduced in 1934, broke new ground with its revolutionary design and went on to be a true milestone car, remaining in production until 1955.Its successors, the 'DS' and 'ID' Series, were equally revolutionary and featured futuristic styling both internally and externally  a memorable feature being the single spoke steering wheel.� Throughout the production run the 'DS' and 'ID' models benefited from the gradual upgrades of specification with the engine being enlarged to 2 litres from 1967.� As with previous Citro�ns, these cars were also assembled at Slough in right-hand-drive form.� In recent years these iconic motor cars have gained a cult following and this example is sure to attract considerable interest.�Offered here is a left-hand-drive 1969 'I D' which was imported from France in 1997.� Described by the vendor as being in very good useable condition, it is understood to have proved very reliable whilst in this ownership, frequently returning 32mpg and driving extremely well, with the road-holding and ride comfort that these models were famed for.� Attractively finished in white and red with red velour upholstery, as original, the car is said to have been regularly maintained and waxoyl treated.� Whilst in the current ownership the car has spent each winter on Majorca, away from the rigours of the British winter.� A stainless steel exhaust system is fitted and all instrumentation and equipment is said to be fully functional.� A period Philips radio is also fitted.
