Lot 222: 1989 Lancia Thema 8.32 Estate Car

The V6-engined original was replaced as the ultimate Thema by the 8.32 in 1988. A real ‘Q car’ if ever there was one, the 8.32 came with the Ferrari 328GTB coupe’s 32-valve, V8 engine mounted transversely beneath the bonnet and, with 215bhp on tap, was capable of giving more exotic rivals a severe fright. Electronically controlled damping ensured correct suspension characteristics no matter what the driving conditions, while the luxuriously appointed interior went some way towards justifying the £43,200 price tag. Just 2,370 8.32s, all left-hand drive saloons, were built between 1988 and 1990, and the model can only become increasingly collectible.

We understand that this almost certainly unique example was constructed as an estate car in the late 1980s by Pininfarina for VIP customer, FIAT boss Gianni Agnelli, who is believed to have kept it until 1995. The car is thought to have had just one intervening owner before coming into the possession of the vendor, another well-known Italian VIP in 2000. Accident free and kept in perfect running order, it was last used in December 2004 and is presented in excellent condition. The car is finished in silver and boasts a supremely well appointed interior featuring a burr veneer dashboard, air conditioning, stereo system and black leather-upholstered seats by the famous furniture manufacturer Poltrona Frau. Power steering and alloy wheels are other noteworthy features. This fascinating ‘Lancia-Ferrari’ is offered complete with tool kit, owner’s wallet/ handbook and Italian libretto.


Il semblerait que la ‘Lancia Ferrari’ 8.32 que nous présentons est certainement l’unique break dessiné par Pininfarina pour son client VIP, Gianni Agnelli, Président de Fiat, qui la garde jusqu’en 1995. La voiture est connue pour n’avoir eu qu’un propriétaire entre Agnelli et l’actuel vendeur, un autre VIP italien, qui la possède depuis 2000. N’ayant jamais subi d’accident et maintenue en parfait état de marche, cette 8.32 break a été utilisé pour la dernière fois en décembre 2004. Présenté ici dans sa livrée gris argent d’origine, avec une superbe sellerie en cuir noir réalisé par le célèbre sellier Poltrona Frau, un tableau de bord plaqué de ronce de noyer, l’air conditionné, une stéréo performante, la direction assistée et les jantes en aluminium, elle sera livrée avec sa trousse à outils, le manuel du propriétaire et ses documents italiens.
