Lot 045: 1986 FERRARI 412i
Motor Cars, H&H Classic Auctions Ltd (21st November 2007)
Launched at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show, the Ferrari 412i was recognisable via its colour-coded bumpers, matt black chin spoiler, raised boot-line and 'flat' five-spoke alloy wheels. Uprated with new electrically-operated front seats, the grand tourer's revamped interior also sported re-profiled headrests and an improved air-conditioning system. Utilising the same tubular steel chassis design as its 365 / 400 / 400i predecessors (but with various detail improvements), the newcomer boasted all-round independent suspension (self-levelling at the rear), power-assisted rack and pinion steering and Bosch ABS disc brakes. Powered by an enlarged 4942cc 'quad-cam' V12 engine that developed 340bhp @ 6,000rpm, it could be had with either five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Reputedly capable of 155mph and 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds, a mere 576 are thought to have left the Maranello factory during the model's four-year production run. Finished in Chiaro Blue metallic with magnolia leather upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "good" (electrical equipment, bodywork, paintwork) or "excellent" (engine, automatic transmission, interior trim, chassis, wheels / tyres) condition. Supplied new via Maranello Concessionaires, chassis '062627' is stated to have covered just 54,000 miles from new (a figure apparently substantiated by "full service history, initially with Maranello Concessionaires then with a number of recognised specialists"). Upgraded with "a full stainless steel exhaust system including manifolds and balancer pipes", the 412i is also understood to have benefited from a "transmission overhaul less than 5,000 miles ago". While, more recent work has reportedly seen the four-seater treated to "a major service and brake refurbishment by 365 / 400 / 412 specialists Cheshire Sport & Off Road". Riding on alloy wheels and sporting a navy blue leather dashboard / centre console, this handsome front-engined V12 Ferrari is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until November 2008. PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is now registered C642RRR.
