Lot 230: 1986 Jaguar XJS Cabriolet
The XJ-S had been under development since 1968 and as a 2+2 fixed head coupe was intended as a replacement for the now legendary E-type. From the beginning it was only available with the V12 engine which gave excellent performance with 0-60mph being dispatched in a very respectable 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. As with any vehicle that has had as long a production life as the XJ-S there have been major developments. Two of the more significant ones for the XJ-S were the launch of the cabriolet in 1983 and later in May 1988 the convertible. XJ12 945 is an original UK specification right hand drive car with the benefit of the long-legged 5.3 V12 engine and automatic transmission. It is finished in its original Jaguar colour of metallic red with the interior finished in the ivory leather both of which compliment each other perfectly. The general condition of this XJ-S convertible is described by the vendor as being good to excellent all round. It comes with a current MoT certificate to April 2007 as well as a service history and comprehensive file of bills. In the current market the Jaguar XJ-S represents exceptional value for money and surely represents the ideal way to enjoy open air motoring whilst still maintaining the gentleman's club effect.
