1991 Ferrari F40
The F40 needs no introduction. It is the quintessential 'ultra car', developed by Ferrari to blast their competitors out of the limelight. In 1984 Ferrari had launched their spectacular 288 GTO, a limited production car which was to wrest the title of World's Fastest Production Car away from Lamborghini, and which had been developed for Group B racing. Michelotto were engaged by Ferrari to develop the car for competition use, with close collaboration by the factory and the Evolution version was extensively tested. However, a change of direction by the F.I.A. saw the abandonment of Group B racing and the GTO was obsolete even before it had turned a wheel in competition. The development work was not wasted, however. It is well-known that the F40 was launched in 1987 to celebrate Ferraris fortieth year as a manufacturer. This car was to be Enzo Ferraris swan song; introduced in the year before the great man died. It was the last car sanctioned personally by him and was a fitting testimony to the no-compromise character who has become one of motorings leading figureheads. The F40 was a car in the great Ferrari tradition to high-performance sports cars which were equally at home on the road or the race track. Following in the footsteps of such legends as the 250 Tour de France, SWB and GTO, it has successfully competed in world-class endurance racing while at the same time holding the title of "World's Fastest Production Car". Further competition success at national and club level in many countries, including the IMSA Championship in the USA, has contributed to this incredible car's outstanding reputation. It is now the most collectible of recent Ferrari's and a car which every enthusiast would dearly love to drive. The immaculate example presented here today is described by the vender as excellent in every way. Complete with British registration documents, MoT and a number of service invoices and contained within what passes for the glove compartment, are the original handbooks and instruction manuals in their leather cases as well as details of the Tracker monitor recovery system fitted at the end of last year. The driving experience is everything you would expect. The power deliver is smooth throughout the entire range with delivery coming through a gearbox with none of the hang-ups super cars are sometimes associated with. A good clean action. The driving position is precise and there is no better place to be as one climbs through the rev. band and becomes aware of a steroid-driven Wagnerian symphony coming from the engine bay just behind your right shoulder. It is no coincidence that the number plate that accompanies the car spells F40 ROR...Cette voiture fabuleuse date de 1991. Les manuels d'entretien et outils sont prsents. Documents de circulation Britanniques.
