Lot 212: Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible
10th Anniversary - British Heritage + Classic & Co, Barons (9th September 2008)
From 1958 until 1965, the Impala was Chevrolet's most expensive full-size car. In the late sixties, the Impala was typically positioned just below the top luxury trim, the Caprice, and above the more economical models like the Biscayne or the Bel Air. The Impala, named for a southern African antelope, is most readily distinguished by a pair of three rather than two taillights at its rear. Top of the range was the SS, which could also be had with the new 409 cubic inch muscle motor.
Offered here is an outstanding example of a 1964 SS, which was imported by the vendor in 2005, after being sourced and inspected by a senior member of the SCCA. It is described as being in excellent, all round condition and was driven over 350 miles to our New Forest facility on the 5th June. In the words of the vendors wife "It did not miss a beat".
Finished in red with white detail and white interior, sitting on chrome wheels, the car is equipped with the 327 cubic inch V8 and automatic transmission. It is offered complete with the original wheels, rear wheel spats and various other spares, which may be inspected on the day.
