Lot 32: 1989 Rover 200 Hatchback
Best of British Festival, Bonhams (28th May 2006)
Introduced in 1989, Rover's second-series 200 was based on the Concerto produced by technical collaborators Honda, the first 200, of 1984, having been erected on the Japanese manufacturer’s Civic platform. A front-wheel-drive two-door hatchback, the 200 debuted with a choice of engines: a 1.4-litre K-Series or 1.6-litre Honda. A booted version - the Rover 400 - arrived the following year alongside a stylish, two-door coupé. First off the production line, this Rover 200 hatchback has belonged to the Museum since 1989, coming to the Collection directly from the Rover Group. Described as in ‘good all round and operable’ condition, the car is offered without documents.
