Lot 218: 1955 Vespa Struzzo
"Legende et Passion", Coys (10th May 2008)
From their inception, Vespa scooters have been known for their painted, pressed steel unibody which combines a complete cowling for the engine enclosing the mechanism and concealing dirt or grease, a flat floorboard providing foot protection and a prominent front fairing providing wind protection into a structural unit as well as a singularly endearing and enduring shape. As the first globally successful scooter, the Vespa has enjoyed tremendous prominence in popular culture and has become a symbol of stylish personal transportation. Manufactured in 1955 this little Vespa is finished in blue and comes complete with an eye catching wicker side car. Very few were manufactured as they were made for 1 year only due to the high cost. Having benefited from a complete restoration and covered minimal mileage throughout its life this scooter is in very good condition throughout. Supplied with French registration papers.
