Lot 128: Ponitac Grand Prix Coupe
Classic Collectors & Historic Cars, Barons (11th December 2007)
The Pontiac Gran Prix was first seen back in 1962 as a 2 door fixed head coupe or, in American parlance, hard top coupe. After a few years in the doldrums, having once lead the GM sales figures, GM reintroduced the Grand Prix in 1969 as a lighter, faster, mid-sized model with Le Mans style hard top and a 118" inch wheelbase on a new "A Chassis". By 1976 the Grand Prix was selling over 250,000 units a year.Offered here is an example of the striking 1976 Grand Prix coupe, which has been recently imported from Toronto. The car is finished in brilliant white with duo-tone, red and white interior and is equipped with a 420ci (6.0 litre) V8 engine mated to a three speed automatic transmission.Described as being in generally good order and said to drive very well, the car is offered complete with import papers and the all important C & E 386 duty paid certificate.
