Lot 111: Mercedes-Benz 230 Fintail

The "Fintail" Mercedes saloon first appeared in 1961 in the guise of the 190/190D. This was not a new model but a revised version of the good old 180, which had been around since 1953. The model range took in a 1.9, 2.0, 2.2 and 2.3 petrol versions, plus the 190 and 200 diesel. The Fintail was the basis of the Mercedes range for 7 years. Offered here is a 230 saloon, which is said to be complete with full service history and original handbooks. With just three owners and a warranted 71500 miles on the odometer, the car is described as being in outstanding condition throughout. This superb Mercedes has the 2.3 litre engine, which is mated to an automatic transmission and is said to be a very original example. The vendor will be driving the car, to the sale, from Bath.
