Lot 069: 1986 ALFA ROMEO SPIDER 2000

The so-called Series 3 (or S3) version of Alfa Romeo's long running and much loved Spider was introduced in 1983. Visually distinguished by its black rubber bumpers and subtle boot lid spoiler, the newcomer also played host to a variety of mechanical and trim refinements. Powered by the familiar 1962cc DOHC four-cylinder engine allied to five-speed manual transmission, the 2000 Spider Veloce variant was reputedly capable of 120mph. Continually evolved and improved, the S3 remained in production until 1990. Finished in red with black leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "good" condition with regard to its engine, five-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis and wheels / tyres (while he rates the bodywork and paintwork as "A1"). Entering the current ownership twelve months ago, 'D915 RLG' is understood to have benefited from "replacement sills / rear valance and an extensive professional respray". Believed but not warranted to have covered some 119,000 KM (approximately 74,000 miles) from new on account of it apparently (a) being "a local car" and (b) having a known ownership chain, the Spider rides on alloy wheels. Said to "run well" and to boast "a clean / tidy interior", this attractive Alfa Romeo is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until June 6th 2008.
