Lot 309: 1972 Porsche 911 2.4 T Targa
Légende et Passion Monaco, Coys (14th May 2005)
After the Frankfurt motor show in 1963 the first of what was to become the most famous Porsche, rolled off the production line in 1964. The 911 was 100mm longer than the 356, this made it a more practical two plus two and with its new 2 litre flat six engine it was faster. In 1966 Porsche introduced the more powerful 911S producing 160 bhp and giving a top speed of 137 mph. 1970 saw the engine capacity rise to 2.2 litres and then in 1972 to 2.4. A option for rigid-roof open-air motoring also arrived and was named the Targa, a now common term employed by many other manufacturers. This immaculate example of a 2.4 litre Targa was only in production for 1 year, the tell tale sign being the oil filler cap on the near-side rear wing. The engine bay is in an equally unsullied state, the reconditioned engine block and triple carbs glint in the sunlight and with the recent resurgence of historic Porsche prices, should prove a popular car this spring.Ce bel exemplaire est un Porsche classique attirant et utilisable. Documents de circulation Allemands.
