Lot 304: Ferrari 250 GT Coupe Pininfarina Coupe

1617GT was one of the last 250 Pininfarina coupes to leave the Maranello factory, delivered new on September 15th 1961. It subsequently passed to America where it was offered for sale end of 1998 and passed on to a Belgian collector; it was acquired on March 16th 2000 by the current owner, the engine's head was rebuilt and a general checkover was completed. In 2004 the car competed in the legendary Liège-Rome-Liège rally. Since then the car has not competed and has remained within his private collection being regularly maintained and exercised. Currently showing an odometer reading of 71,129km, the last service is recorded as having been carried out at 68,446km.When recently inspected by a Christie's specialist the bodywork was straight throughout with good panel fit but a few minor imperfections were evident. The car started 'on the button' and performed faultlessly when subsequently driven. Although not a concours example, the Ferrari presents very well and all mechanical components are reported to be in good order with little use since their last relevant rebuilds. With the majority of key components similar to or shared with some of the most valuable and desirable Ferraris ever produced, this 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe provides comfortable, competitive touring and is ideal for a host of European events.
