1973 Porsche 911 RS Replica
1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring ReplicaRegistration Number: EU registered Chassis Number: 00521 One of the most famous Porches ever built, the Carrera RS has come to be regarded as one of the top sports cars to emerge from the 1970s. It was designed with ambivalence very much in mind: Porsche's engineers wanted a car that could be successfully used on the race track and the road. Few people could ever argue that they did not succeed in their aim, for the RS is an eminently useable car just as at home trickling through traffic as it is ploughing down the overtaking lane of the autobahn; yet when competing at Le Mans, Daytona and in the Targa Florio it was almost invincible, often winning outright against pure racing prototypes. The RS (for Rennsport) was based on the 911 model but used lightened bodywork and a revised 2.7 litre, fuel-injected version of the ubiquitous flat-six cylinder engine, the largest then used in a road-going Porsche. With a weight of around 950kg and an honest 210bhp on tap the RS could sprint from standstill to 60mph in just over five seconds and achieve a genuine 158mph; it was one of the fastest production cars in the world. This 911 started life as a 2.4 litre 911 E. It has been expertly converted by German Porsche specialist Auto Expert to RS specification, including a genuine Porsche RS, type 911/83 engine, boasting 219bhp, which was overhauled in 2005 and has now covered just 3,000 kilometres. Other correct RS features include the uprated braking system, Bilstein dampers, front suspension brace, oil cooler and sports exhaust system, with hydraulic camshaft chain tensioners, a big hydraulic pump and fan exhaust manifold further enhancing the car's competition abilities. Sitting on seven and eight inch wide Fuchs wheels with racing tyres, also permitted for road use, this perfect 911`s body and trim were equally and expertly modified; it now has lightweight front and rear bumpers, bonnet and engine cover, the latter with the RS 'duck tail' and lightweight carpets. Equipped with FIA papers and German historic car registration plates and registration documentation, the car has already shown its competition ability on the 2005 Sardinia Rally by finishing first in class and fourth overall against an armada of genuine RSs. Finished in classic white with black racing interior and blue RS livery, this car is 'on the button' and ready to be used immediately on both road and track by its fortunate new owner. EstimateE66,000-E73,500
