Lot 219: 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS
Autosport 2006, Coys (14th January 2006)
The 328 can be seen as the ultimate development of the line which began with the 246 GT Dino. The source of its design can not only be seen in the mechanical specification but in its styling too. Race bred independent suspension at every corner endowed this Ferrari with enviable poise and dynamic handling while the mid mounted 260bhp 3.2 litre V8 engine propelled it to over 150mph with a 0-60mph time of just six seconds. The 328 earned itself a enviable reputation for its all round ability. Here was a car that was capable of being driven with complete docility around town but possessing the potential to see off all opposition on a fast winding road. When it became time to replace the 328, the task was enormous, the 328 had been by far the most popular model to leave Maranello, a perfect combination of practicality and performance. This particular 328 is the popular GTS variant and its performance has been honed even further over the standard road car as it has been campaigned in Group B of the Ferrari Formula Classic Series. The car has had minor modifications carried out which include the fitment of Sparco seats and belts, new sports exhaust and a number of suspension modifications. All standard factory seats and carpets are being sold with this Ferrari so the new owner can return the car back to standard road specification. D141 FBD is finished in red with a black leather interior and is described by the vendor to be in excellent condition. The car has only covered 42,000 miles and has a full documented Ferrari service history from new and old MoT's and tax disc's dating back to 1993. The car also comes complete with the rare original tools and owners manuals as well as a current MoT valid until November 2006. Bills accompanying the car total over 5,000 in recent years which include a recent cam belt service and new clutch. This well maintained and serviced Ferrari will be the envy of fellow track day racers or can be quickly and easily converted back to a standard road car.
