Lot 307: 1957 Fiat Marionella 600M Multipla Marianella Beach Car

Perhaps the rarest beach car on the Fiat Multipla chassis was Fissore’s Marianella. Looking like something out of a Jetsons cartoon or a 50s science fiction film, it shows a styling exuberance typical of the period. Imagine you are a tycoon or film star on holiday in St. Tropez circa 1957 – what do you drive from your Riva to your villa? Just like a bespoke suit, you commission an exclusive carrozzeria to clothe the most suitable chassis (the Multipla of course) and voilà: a small series for a wealthy and image conscious clientele is created and given the model name ‘Marianella’.

This particular car, featuring an unusual cut-away roof design which allows water skis and other ‘lifestyle’ accessories to be carried above the semi-circular passenger seating area, also boasts boat-style wood embellishment to the interior, steering wheel-mounted clock and white wall tyres. Shown at the 1957 Turin Salon and believed unique, it was sold to the Latina area near Rome and has spent its entire life since stored in the capital city. Following discovery by the vendor, he embarked upon a total restoration that will be finished shortly before the auction; the ski rack remained to be fitted at the time of photography. Offered in show condition and looking simply spectacular in baby blue with period red/ cream vinyl trim, this ultimate style statement is offered with Italian libretto and pre-restoration photos.

Cette rare et inhabituelle voiture de plage avec carrosserie “Marianella” signée Fissore est unique avec un toit ajouré pour permetter de ranger les skis nautiques out tout autre accessoire du même genre, elle a également les sièges passagers semi-circulaires, l’horloge monté sur le volant et des pneus à flanc blanc. Ce modèle, probablement unique, fût exposé au Salon de Turin en 1957 avant d’être entreposé à Rome pendant une longue période. Aprés la découverte de cette Fissore Marianella par l’actuel propriétaire, une restoration complète est effectuée, celle-ci s’achèvera juste avant notre vente aux enchères ; le rangement pour les ski nautiques n’est pas encore monté au moment de la photo, Elle est offerte dans sa teinte bleu ciel avec les sièges en vinyl rouge et blanc.. Cette voiture, parfaite pour St. Tropez cet été, est offerte avec ses documents d’immatriculation italiens et des photos avant restoration.
