Lot 397: 1972 Triumph Trident
A Sale of Important Motorcycles and Motorcars, Bonhams (25th October 2008)
Rated at 60hp and capable of 120mph the 1972 Triumph Trident was an original power cruiser. The three-cylinder design, first devised in 1962 by engineers Bert Hopwood and Doug Hele, was a running prototype by 1965, the first production street machine appearing in 1969. In November 1974, production of the T150V was ceased. The final batch of T160s came of the production line the week before Christmas 1975. The rest is Triumph history, the original Tridents last produced in 1976. This low mileage, roadworthy example in original condition is still thrice the fun and a bargain at that.
