Lot 206: 1997 Bentley Turbo R/T

The Turbo R was a high-performance model for Bentley. It shared the Mulsanne's chassis, and inherited the turbocharged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo. However, the Turbo R's engine was retuned with new Bosch MK-Motronic fuel injection for added torque. It also sported a retuned suspension and wider tires on alloy wheels, a first for a Bentley. Further developments to the Turbo R created the Bentley Turbo RT, powered by a 6.8 litre V8 engine with an output of 400 hp, which was produced from 1997 to 1998. The RT was the last, rarest, most powerful and most expensive of the Turbo line. It is visually differentiated from other Bentley Turbo models by its sport wheels, radiator mesh grille and colour-coded bumpers with bright mesh inserts. The car's base price was US$211,600 (roughly US$65,000 more than the Turbo R), and just 50 units were produced. Because of its power and rarity, the RT is highly sought after by collectors. This particular car is rarer still, being a left hand drive car with a total production run of just 18. This one owner from new example offered today has only covered 26,000 kms and is in very good condition. This car has all the usual refinements you would expect from a Bentley but has the addition of full Mulliner specification which includes a DVD/TV, Sat-Nav and high end hi-fi.
