Lot 115: MG Midget 1275cc

The MG Midget, in various forms, was around from the early days of MG in the 1930's to 1981. The modern Midget appeared in 1961 as a case of badge engineering. The car was an Austin Healey Sprite with extra brightwork, a modified grill and an MG badge. The car was developed over the next few years through MII, MKIII and MKIV but when the rubber bumpers were introduced in 1974, the new model was merely know as the Midget 1500. Offered here is a 1970 1275cc example, which has been the subject of a £16,000, yes sixteen thousand pound restoration. Using a new Heritage shell, the car has been completely rebuilt. No aspect of the car has been left untouched. The car now sports a rebuilt, unleaded compatible, engine, rebuilt gearbox, rebuilt differential, new suspension, new brakes, reupholstered interior, new luxury carpet set, Walnut rimmed steering wheel, gear knob and door cappings, new chrome and a new fuel tank. The restoration was completed by the MG Owners club workshop in Swavesy, CambridgeshireFinished in white with black interior, the car is also equipped with Halogen headlamps and a safety roll-cage. This Midget is said to be in outstanding condition.
