Lot 03: Ford PREFECT E93A

Launched with a flourish in 1938 and billed as 'the Ten at the head of its class', the Prefect was the first Ford model to be given a name instead of just a series letter and went on to become one of the most successful family cars of its time. Although retaining many features from the previous 7W 10hp model, the new styling of the Prefect was very much '� la mode' with the thrust forward radiator grille and sloping rear panel. As with many motor cars of this period, much use was made of Bakelite for the fascia and window surrounds. Re-introduced immediately after the Second World War, the E93A Series was produced until 1949 when superseded by a re-styled model designated E493A.Presented here is a 1949 model finished, unsurprisingly, in black. Having been in long-term storage, the motor car will require careful servicing and re-commissioning and some years ago it was used for display purposes by a main Ford dealership. Seemingly very correct, the red interior trim has clearly been renewed at some point and much work has obviously been undertaken in the past, although we understand that only around 100 miles have been covered over the past twenty years or so. The recorded mileage currently stands at 67,796 and may possibly be correct, according to the vendor.
