Lot 11: Bentley Turbo R

When the turbocharged version of the Bentley Mulsanne was shown at the Geneva Salon in 1982, it certainly created a sensation and was to restore the high-performance image of the marque. Its leviathan proportions notwithstanding, the car would sprint to 60mph in around 8 seconds and on to a top speed of 135mph. Three years later, the Turbo R was to continue this theme and featured a number of improvements to this imposing sports saloon. Finally, after years of refusal to disclose power outputs, the company stated that 320bhp was produced by this superlative engine with its Garret AirResearch turbocharger. A 1992 example of the Turbo R, finished in Indian Ivory with cream hide interior, the vehicle is understood to have covered just under 50,000 miles at time of writing. In the care of the vendor for the past five years, the car is described as being in good mechanical order in all departments and of extremely good appearance all round. Extensive service history is provided, along with a current MOT certificate valid until July next year and a V5C registration document.
