Lot 36: Triumph TR6
Sale of pre-war and Thoroughbred Motor Cars, BCA (7th June 2007)
Considered by many to be the last of the real TRs, the TR6 was produced from 1969 to 1976 with a total run of almost 92,000. As with its predecessors, the TR6 enjoyed enormous success overseas. The 2½-litre engine delivered lusty performance whilst the Michelotti styling looked particularly pleasing having been brought up to date by Karmann. Today, in the world of classic sports cars, the TR6 admirably fills the gap between the MG B and the 'Big Healey', with a dedicated following and the benefit of two enthusiastic clubs.A 1975 example finished in the popular shade of Mimosa yellow, this TR6 is reported to have covered just 13,500 miles from new, remaining in the hands of one family for thirty years, during which time it was to see occasional use during the summer months, being exhibited at various events and fastidiously cared for. The specification includes hard-top, overdrive and Ziebart rustproofing and an 8-track stereo cartridge player. Having carried a cherished registration number for many years, the car has now been re-registered and represents an extremely rare opportunity to acquire an example of this much-loved British sports car that has covered minimal mileage.A V5 document is supplied, together with an MOT certificate valid until 6th March 2008. Also included are the original Passport to Service booklet, driver's handbook and directory of UK Triumph distributors and dealers.
