Lot 217: Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible

It may be hard to believe but it is over 30 years since the Jaguar XJS was first introduced. Originally unloved, because it was seen as a poor replacement for the iconic E-Type, which it was never meant to be, the XJS soon won over all those who got to drive one. Most journalists described the model as a superb Grand Touring car and waxed lyrical about its silky ride and turbine-like power.In 1988, after 13 years without a convertible in the Jaguar range, the XJS Convertible arrived. The XJSC had provided a stop gap from 1984 to 1988 but this full convertible would be the fist since the demise of the E-Type in 1975.This 1991 example was first registered in Northern Ireland but returned to mainland UK in 1994. Said to have been the subject of extensive improvements in the recent past, including a full repaint, refurbished alloy road wheels, reconnolised leather, tailor made carpets and attention to the mechanics.
