Lot 429: 1961 Volkswagen EPC Hustler 'The Wolfrace Car'

Fine Motor Cars, Coys (5th July 2008)

1961 Volkswagen EPC Hustler 'The Wolfrace Car'
In 1971, the Wolf was born. Bringing new styles available for many vehicles at affordable costs, the future was bright for Wolfrace in the world of wheel wizardry. Many of which are still used as the ultimate finishing touch by any self respecting classic car enthusiast. Starting the trend for multi-spoke styles, the Turbo wheel was a great success story from Wolfrace. Remaining at the forefront of wheel design, Wolfrace continued to successfully launch and market products throughout the 1980s. As well as wheels, Wolfrace developed a range of sports seats. Available as 4 different 'series', the seats offered a sportier look that moved away from the duller interiors of the time. As one of the most successful wheel designs ever from Wolfrace, you may well recognise the Sonic as the Ford XR2 'Pepper Pot'. Ford bought the wheel to add the finishing touch to their sports Fiesta; a classic that lives on today. Wolfrace continued to stamp its authority throughout the 1990s bringing new innovations in wheel design and in 1996, Wolfrace celebrated a quarter of a century in the alloy wheel industry. Wolfrace became a market leader manufacturing wheels for the world's leading car manufacturers including VW, Audi, Ford, General Motors, Rover, Jaguar and Land Rover. Originally built by Jackson Kustom Buggies of Wembley, widely accredited as one of finest UK custom bodyshops, it was commissioned by Wolfrace in order to promote the every expanding alloy wheel business. It was well spec'd at the time with Corbeau competition seats, multipoint Luke harnesses and, of course, Wolfrace original 'Slot' alloy wheels. It was then bought by the vendor and used as a promotional vehicle a trade shows and other similar events. Big Boys Toys rebuilt the engine less than 1000 miles ago and it starts and runs well. Fully liveried by Wolfrace and presenting in excellent condition throughout, this groovy car comes with minimal weather equipment but fun in copious amounts...
