Lot 03: Maserati Merak SS

Making its debut in 1972 at the Paris Motor Show, the Merak was the smaller sibling to the Bora which had been introduced the previous year.� Powered by a similar engine to that utilised in the Citro�n SM  a 90� V6 unit  and styled by Ital Design, the Merak had striking looks which were very much of its time and it was a particularly well-balanced machine in all respects.� 1975 was to see the introduction of the Merak SS, which boasted improvements including a reduction in overall weight together with an increase in power of some 30bhp along with revised suspension settings to cope with the wider wheels and tyres now fitted.� Just 250 examples of the Merak SS were produced and naturally survivors are now keenly sought.A 1978 example, this motor car is finished in blue with black trim and is said by its vendor to require attention in a number of areas both mechanically and bodily, details of which are available on file, and due to this the motor is to be offered for sale without reserve with documentation including a Swansea V5 and recently expired MOT certificate.�
