Lot 135: 1966 Jaguar S-Type 3.8 with O/D

The Mark II Jaguar is regarded by many to be one of the most successful cars produced by the legendary Coventry based Jaguar company. Following on from the success of the Mark II the company decided to produce new models to try and improve certain aspects of what had gone before. In 1964 Jaguar started producing the S-Type with a 3.4 or 3.8 engine specification. However the car which bared many resemblances to what had gone before had various subtle changes made to it, both mechanical and aesthetically which undoubtedly improved the car.The mechanical changes were really placed on the set up of the car and the S-Type was made shorter in length by some 60cm and was also given independent all round suspension which significantly improved the handling and made it a much more response and fun car to drive. The engine was as ever capable of producing ample power with the 3.8 giving out 220bhp at 5,500rpm. The body work was also changed slightly and had a much long rear boot tail and the spat was done away with making it much easier on the eye. The extended boot made it possible to store much more luggage making it a far more practical car all round. This rare left hand drive example with the desirable overdrive option has spent the more recent years in sunny and, more importantly, dry and warm Greece. It underwent a comprehensive restoration in 1999 and benefited from the fitment of new bumpers, a new stainless steel exhaust, new brakes and most recently the fitment of new petrol pumps in 2004. This delightful S-Type is reported to be virtually rust free and comes with its original toolkit. Nach Angaben des Einlieferers prsentiert sich dieser S-Type nahezu rostfrei und wird mit dem originalen Werkzeugset angeboten.
