Lot 04: Triumph GT6 MK III

First appearing in 1966, the GT6 was a fastback coup� version of the Triumph Spitfire, powered by the 6-cylinder engine as used in the then-contemporary Vitesse. Weighing in at around 17-cwt, the GT6 was endowed with an excellent power to weight ratio, ensuring a lively performance and, when fitted with the optional overdrive, boasted a 90mph cruising gait. The GT6 was to evolve through three series until production finally ceased in 1974. The combination of good performance and sleek Michelotti styling has ensured that survivors have become extremely sought after. Dating from the final year of manufacture, this example is finished in Sapphire blue and was the subject of an extensive renovation programme some years ago and a full photographic record is to be supplied. At this time, a replacement engine was fitted as well. Recent work has included the replacement of the servo and brake pipes, the fitment of a new battery and renewal of the sunshine roof. The car has black leather seats which were also renewed when the restoration was undertaken and it is offered with extensive history together with the aforementioned photographic record. Also supplied are a V5C registration document and a current MOT certificate valid until 20th September 2008.
