1973 Triumph Stag Mk II ConvertibleRegistration No. ONV 222M Chassis No. *Introduced in the early 1970s, the Triumph Stag was a high powered gentleman's tourer and was the first Triumph to be fitted with the in-house produced 3 litre V8. The body was designed by Giovanni Michelotto and proved to be such a success that the legendary gentleman spy, James Bond, was to be seen driving a Stag in the film 'Diamonds are Forever'. Low morale at the factory led to some reliability problems at first, but these have long since been solved by the number of Triumph Stag specialists who have gained considerable experience with the model over the years.This beautiful example, finished in pimento red with a contrasting black vinyl interior and a black mohair hood has covered a mere 44,000 recorded miles in the last 25 years. The original, but unfortunately unreliable V8 engine has been replaced in 1985 with a brand new unit from the much more tested Ford 3.0 Litre V6 Essex engine, producing some 200bhp. Transmission is via an original reconditioned Triumph gearbox with overdrive. In 1999/2000 the bodywork has been comprehensively restored, photographic records of this restoration come with the car, as does a folder containing service and repair bills and all MOT certificates since 1983.This fine Stag has also the added benefit of a Langford stainless steel exhaust system, a Kenlowe electric fan and an high quality Stereo with a built-in hands-free mobile phone unit.
