Lot 222: 1983 Puch 50cc Maxi Moped
The 'British Bikes' Dispersal Sale, Bonhams (21 October 2006)
The advent of ‘Sixteener Special’ sports mopeds in the 1970s allowed the Austrian firm of Steyr-Daimler-Puch, long-established as makers of two-stroke lightweights, to grab a substantial slice of the UK ‘learner’ market. Meanwhile, the popular Maxi range continued to cater for commuters. This particular Maxi is an example of the so-called ‘mo-kick’ type, with kick-starter and motorcycle-type footrests instead of bicycle pedals. The machine is offered with Swansea V5 registration document.
