Lot 142: Jaguar MkII 3.8 Auto Saloon

Classic - Collectors and Historic Motor Cars, Barons (21st October 2008)

It is hard to believe that almost 50 years have passed since the launch of the Jaguar MKII. It is even more remarkable to note that demand for this Iconic classic remains undiminished, with specialists offering modernised versions for 50,000+ and restored, unmodified cars, still achieving high values. The styling of the MKII is timeless, the performance is more than adequate and ownership is made simple via a huge spares and specialist repair network. Offered here is an extremely original 1960 3.8 equipped example, which has the 3-speed automatic transmission and is described as being in predmoninately original and excellent condition. The only non-standard parts are breakerless ignition, a Kenlowe fan and change to negative earth. Finished in green with suede green interior, the car has proved to be perfectly reliable, always starting first push of the starter button. The vendor says tha the car could be used daily but that it has been a third car in his case and has always been covered, garaged and cosseted, when not in use. The car is said to have never been out in wet weather..
