Lot 137: Toyota MR2

The diminutive, mid-engine, MR2 first appear in 1984 and took the motoring world by storm. Year after year this clever little car took top honors in the sales stakes, right across the globe. The MKI remained in production until 1989 and now has a club dedicated to the model.In 1989 the MR2 went through a complete redesign. The new MR2, was longer, wider and heavier than its predecessor and had smoother bodylines. While the MKI had been a pure sports car, made in the spirit of Loti, the MKII, being heavier and larger, could be classed as a GT-car. The MKII was itself replaced in 1999 but the model will disappear in July 2007, when production ends.Offered here is a 1998 MKII, 2.0, 16 valve coupe, which has covered only 6750 (six thousand, seven hundred and fifty miles) from new, in the hands of two owners. The car is offered complete with all previous MoT certificates and the original service booklet containing 8 stamps.Described as being in A1 condition, the car is finished in Metallic green with black interrior, is equipped with a 5-speed, manual transmission and the usual options associated with the model.
